Accademia
MICHELE BUDA

Accademia is a project by Michele Buda developed across the classrooms and spaces of the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, where he teaches photography. The research takes the form of a cross-disciplinary and oblique reading of the images, forms, objects and practices typical of the Academy environment, experienced from within through the eyes of a teacher who has made observation the cornerstone of his artistic practice.
The alternation between portraits and images of tormented work surfaces and worn-out tools takes on an almost pornographic dimension: the obscene gesture of irritation, the ambiguous and provocative pose – everything is transformed; dust becomes seductive, ordinary clothes become extreme, and the absorbed gaze turns into an attitude.

Michele Buda (Cesena, Italy, 1976) is a visual artist who lives and works in Cesena. He teaches photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna.
