Metronom is pleased to present the fifth screening of Rabbit Hole project curated by Gemma Fantacci, hosted on our DIGITAL VIDEO WALL with the video Stealing Ur Feelings (2019) by Noah Levenson.
From the 11th April to the 9th of May 2023 it is possible to see Stealing Ur Feelings on the Digital Video Wall h24, at Metronom, via Carteria 10, Modena. Levenson's work focuses on the study of artificial intelligence and the role it plays in everyday life. Stealing Ur Feelings presents video frames collected from various web sources. The artist shows how Big Tech companies, such as Snapchat and Instagram, are using increasingly sophisticated technologies to capture facial micro-expressions (face tracking, eye tracking, mouth tracking) to decode emotional states and thus create databases dedicated to emotional profiling of users. The goal is to understand which content users are most interested in and train the algorithms to feed them the same type of information or entertainment content.
The intent of this project is to push the viewer to reflect and ask questions about artificial intelligence: are we really aware of how AI, algorithms and social media manage our data? Are we really able to manage and choose which content to watch?
