TAISUKE KOYAMA | SOLO SHOW

The solo exhibition by Taisuke Koyama, Waves and Particles, set up in the Metronom spaces until 27 July 2019, has opened on Friday 31 May 2019, at 7.00 pm.

The exhibition displays a selection of works, collected in a site-specific installation, from Pico and Light Field series, as result of Koyama's research on the behavior of light and color between natural phenomena and digital environments. The two words that make up the title, "waves" (waves) and "particles" (particles), indicate the essential and double properties of light and, together, perfectly express their essence and chemical nature.

Starting from models of artificial rainbows, entitled Rainbow Form, made by the artist capturing the close-ups of some multicolored advertising posters, Koyama started his own investigation on digitalised photographic supports creating five other variants of those same matrices. Light Field, collects images derived from the process of use and recording of light by a scanner, thus interpreting the photographic and artistic process to force its technical limits beyond the conceptual ones. Pico's works represent the last results of Koyama's work, where the attempt to isolate the color is obtained first by capturing the monochromatic pixels, then enlarging them by 1500 times, giving shape to the infinite possibility of generating the original particle of image. The recent series Photons consists of three images of the sun' s rays that have been taken out of focus. Each R G B color has been applied to each of the three images, and they have been re-arranged in order to create new variations of colors and shapes.

Koyama, not limiting to a traditional presentation of the image, designs structures that support and make visible as a 'roll' development of the photographic print, which occupies the environment and obliges to unusual ways of reading.
