The Garden

Inside The Garden Metronom brings together several works from International artists at The Koppel Project, London. The Garden aims to create an atmosphere inside which friends and visitors can meet, a moment to get to know Metronom and its projects.

The garden is an environment where many and different species co-exist, following this system the artist's works create spontaneous bonds thanks to some shared characteristics of their research. The dialog between the human dimension and nature, identity and vegetal organisms, the urban environment and the vegetal one finds new forms of expression. In the work of Christto & Andrew nature is presented in its future form, or maybe distortion, in which vegetal elements are placed next to traces of a former human society. Elena Aya Bundurakis dives the viewer inside microorganisms, displaying substances which are hard to identify but which can show us the most hidden part of living beings, their most unexpected compositions and also the most intimate. Martina della Valle creates vegetal architectures to meditate on the marginal areas on urban flora: the artist offers a new point of view to look at the city's vegetation and perhaps discover new species that so often goes unnoticed. Mark Dorf explores the interactions between society, digital domain and nature: focusing on the landscape, meant as a habitable and familiar place, Dorf analyses the numeric translation given by digital observers which propose new visions yet to be discovered. In the work of Sanna Kannisto it is possible to read a naturalistic investigation on animals and plants. As a researcher the artist adopts a scientific visualisation whilst at the same time she constructs a theatrical stage in which birds and plants are the protagonist. Nature is also the protagonist inside the work of Tilo&Toni, where we can see its power and vitality: using the standards from the German romanticism, in the photographic series of Tilo&Toni the relation between human and nature is investigated with a contemporary concerns and desires for authenticity.
